Making Playdough!

In class, we made playdough. We did this for play. Unfortunately, I was not there to make it but I did get to see how the playdough turned out and I also played with it. It was very cool even though there was a lot of mess! Here are some images!

DISCO 2018!

Last night, Glen Taylor School held its very first disco for 2018! The student leaders planned the event and the teachers helped out! Of course, DJ Vino was there to play our school jams. I myself attended the disco and it was awesome! Everyone was enjoying themselves while dancing the night away! There was food on sale and lights were beaming across the room. For our first disco of the year, it was pretty amazing!

Here are some photos of the wonderful event.

D.A.R.E!

Today was our last session with Constable T. Constable T comes into our class to talk about the choices that we make with drugs and their consequences. This programme is called D.A.R.E. During the sessions we have had with her, I have learnt many new things about the importance of not taking drugs and the consequences you receive from them.

I have gained a lot of knowledge from our sessions with Constable T.

The Secret Garden - Book Review

With Mr Victor we visited the library. At the library each of us chose a book to read and wrote a book review about the book. I decided to choose a book that I had previously read. I chose this book because I truly enjoyed reading it. I was intrigued by the blurb and front cover and the first couple of sentences were very engaging. Here is my book review about "The Secret Garden".

SOFTBALL 2018!

This term our KiwiSport is Softball. So far we have learnt many skills about how to play and the different techniques. I am really enjoying Softball this term and it is very fun. Here are some images of a couple of images of our sessions.

Have you tasted a Samoan Umu?

To celebrate Samoan Language Week, Room 11 decided to eat a Samoan Umu for lunch which was made by some students (Including myself) and we had the help of Mr Fa'alili as well. After assembly the selected students went down to Mr Fa'alili's house and prepared the umu there. I had the pleasure of seeing the process happen. We helped out with the food and when we waited for the food to cook, we played  bit of rugby, touch and volley.

When the food was ready we gathered them into boxes. The food was super hot when we unwrapped the foil from the food. We then took the food to school to enjoy with our classmates and Room 12. The food was very yum and our plates consisted of Pork, Chicken, Taro, Crabmeat Salad and Fa'i.

Here are some images of the students hard at work while making the umu.

AMY AND EZRA!

Some of our school leaders went down to Room 6 (New Entrant Class) and they did a bit of studying on the students. They learnt about them and worked in pairs to do this. Each pair created posters about the little one and we then shared our work with each other. I myself had the opportunity of meeting our new students and getting to know more about them. I was buddies with Ezra and here is the poster we created!

*One interesting fact I found out about Ezra is that she has a sister who is named AMY! Which is my name as well!

Dr Sharad Paul talks about healthy eating!

At Glen Taylor School we had a special evening where Dr Sharad Paul who came into our school to talk to us about healthy eating and why it is important! The first 100 people to give their forms back in we're the 100 people to attend the evening. Not only did we talk about healthy eating but it was also the opening for the small new building in the juniors which was promoted by Dr Sharad Paul himself. The chef or the Heritage Hotel also came in and cooked food for the attending people to enjoy!

I myself was there because as a member of the Pasifika Pearls, I performed with them. We also got to eat the amazing food which was given and I indeed enjoyed it. It is always a pleasure to be apart of the Pasifika Pearls and performing with them is very fun! Here are some photos of our performance.
