This term we are focusing on Celebrations for Inquiry. So Room 11 has been creating many presentations about specific celebrations in the world. For this task, we had to choose a celebration from the top 10 celebrations in the world and create a mini presentation including all the research we gathered. I chose the Yee-Peng Lantern Festival and I hope you learn as much information as I did while researching! Enjoy!

My Vehicle Transformation

In class we were assigned a task to choose a type of vehicle and add in our very own elements to the vehicle using our creativity. I chose to do a motorbike and I added a variety of built-in objects to help it look like a more new and improved motorbike. This task was influenced by a book about a lady who goes around her town wondering about all the new things she can add on her bike to make it better. Here is my created google draw with my unique motorbike.

Healthy Choices - Damn Berry

This film is about a healthy drink named Damn Berry. It was created by my group and I. We worked together to produce the script, music, shots, props and more.

In the film there is a group of girls playing netball. They work together to get their shots in. There seems to be one girl in particular that is playing outstandingly. This is because of the help from the product Damn Berry that she has consumed. The drink helps her to keep energized and active throughout the day and gives her the strength to play the sport.

I hope you enjoy the film and get the idea of keeping yourself healthy.

Maritime Museum

Today Room 11 went on a trip with Room 12 and 13 to Maritime Museum. We got to see many rare things that you wouldn't see nowadays. Maritime Museum is a museum particularly about Life On Sea. We got to see different types of boats and artwork. We even saw an old ice cream shop! When the clock hit 12, a cannon was shot. BANG! The children glared with amazement. We then went of to sea and before we knew it the harbor bridge was just above us. The wind blew hard against the boat as we sailed to shore. We then grabbed our bags on off we went back to school.

It was a day to remember!

#2MUCHSUKA

For Inquiry, we are focusing on healthy choices. This means our health, hygiene and also the food that we eat. We have been learning about the many different ways that we can keep healthy and the consequences we get if we aren't healthy.

To enjoy our learning, we decided to do a fun activity involving sugar and our creative thinking. We got into groups and estimated the amount of sugar in different drinks. We then used a teaspoon to measure our sugar and put it into zip lock bags. Using those bags we created decorative posters to hang on our Inquiry wall. Take a look at the awesome work we did in class.

Don't Sit If You Want To Keep Fit!

Do you want to keep fit? Then don't take a seat. Stand up!

For reading I read an interesting article about how standing can keep you fit. Apparently, standing makes your heart beat faster and is good for your health. It is a way of keeping fit! Interesting right! Sitting down for a long amount of time can cause pain in many parts of your body and affect your bones but yes, standing can affect the lower part of your legs. After reading the article I used all the interesting facts that I learnt and created a poster including tips. Take a look at my awesome poster and comment what you think about it!

Student Led Conference Mid Year

Today, we had our Student Led Conference for the middle of the year. The point of this event was to show my parents the progress I have made in learning so far this year and discuss with them my goals for the rest for the year. They get to see the awesome work I have completed in class and also meet my teacher. Sitting with my parents and talking about my learning was a fun experience. Here is an image of me and my parents discussing my learning in class.

Endangered Animal

For writing we are working on reports. A report gives information and facts to the reader. The article that is written is made to either persuade, inform or entertain the reader. In class Miss Tupou allocated a different endangered animal for every student. We then had to use the slide Miss Tupou sent us to answer the questions that were given. This activity was a great way to get us started for our writing sessions about report in class. Take a look at my slide.

The Dance Of Life

Have you ever heard of the Taualuga. Also known as the "Dance Of Life". Well, the taualuga is a graceful Samoan Siva that is performed at many cultural events. For Inquiry, we were given a website to choose one video that we were interested in and review that clip. Our teacher gave us several questions to answer as our Documentary Review. We then presented this review in any way that we wanted. As long as we were creative. I decided to present mine using google presentation. Here is my presentation!

Homework Accomplished!

This term I collated my homework tasks onto 1 slide. These tasks have included spelling, reading, writing and math. I enjoy completing my homework every week and seeing my name ticked off on the chart. At the end of every term, the students that have finished all of their homework get a treat! I myself, as well as other students have completed the homework tasks for this term and we get our treat on Thursday. I can't wait to see what kind of homework we get next term!

Take a look at my homework tasks for this week.

Making Playdough!

In class, we made playdough. We did this for play. Unfortunately, I was not there to make it but I did get to see how the playdough turned out and I also played with it. It was very cool even though there was a lot of mess! Here are some images!

DISCO 2018!

Last night, Glen Taylor School held its very first disco for 2018! The student leaders planned the event and the teachers helped out! Of course, DJ Vino was there to play our school jams. I myself attended the disco and it was awesome! Everyone was enjoying themselves while dancing the night away! There was food on sale and lights were beaming across the room. For our first disco of the year, it was pretty amazing!

Here are some photos of the wonderful event.

D.A.R.E!

Today was our last session with Constable T. Constable T comes into our class to talk about the choices that we make with drugs and their consequences. This programme is called D.A.R.E.
