Have you tasted a Samoan Umu?

To celebrate Samoan Language Week, Room 11 decided to eat a Samoan Umu for lunch which was made by some students (Including myself) and we had the help of Mr Fa'alili as well. After assembly the selected students went down to Mr Fa'alili's house and prepared the umu there. I had the pleasure of seeing the process happen. We helped out with the food and when we waited for the food to cook, we played  bit of rugby, touch and volley.

When the food was ready we gathered them into boxes. The food was super hot when we unwrapped the foil from the food. We then took the food to school to enjoy with our classmates and Room 12. The food was very yum and our plates consisted of Pork, Chicken, Taro, Crabmeat Salad and Fa'i.

Here are some images of the students hard at work while making the umu.

Pasifika Pearls

In Glen Taylor School we have a dance group named Pasifika Pearls that do dances from all sorts of the Pacific Islands. We go to Samoa, Cook Islands, Kiribati and lots more. 2 weeks ago we performed in assembly for Samoan Language Week. I have some photos that were taken after our performance. Our 1st performance is a Samoan dance and our 2nd performance is a dance to the remix of We Know The Way. Take a look at some photos that were taken.
