Don't Sit If You Want To Keep Fit!

Do you want to keep fit? Then don't take a seat. Stand up!

For reading I read an interesting article about how standing can keep you fit. Apparently, standing makes your heart beat faster and is good for your health. It is a way of keeping fit! Interesting right! Sitting down for a long amount of time can cause pain in many parts of your body and affect your bones but yes, standing can affect the lower part of your legs. After reading the article I used all the interesting facts that I learnt and created a poster including tips. Take a look at my awesome poster and comment what you think about it! 

Homework Accomplished!

This term I collated my homework tasks onto 1 slide. These tasks have included spelling, reading, writing and math. I enjoy completing my homework every week and seeing my name ticked off on the chart. At the end of every term, the students that have finished all of their homework get a treat! I myself, as well as other students have completed the homework tasks for this term and we get our treat on Thursday. I can't wait to see what kind of homework we get next term!

Homework Wk9 T1

This week we were given homework. We were given tasks to do with reading, writing, spelling, maths and also some extra work that I decided to complete as well. I enjoyed doing my homework this week because we were given very fun tasks. Theses tasks allowed me to use my creativity with creating posters. I enjoyed the extra homework because we had to create a brochure for a country that we could choose! I chose Japan and made the best brochure possible! Even though I am not familiar with that a brochure is, I think it turned out great! Take a look at my homework for the last week of Term 1!

For homework this week we were given different tasks to complete. Ranging from reading to writing to maths to spelling and also extra work which I completed as well. I enjoy doing homework because the tasks that we are given are very fun and give us a chance to be creative in whatever way we like. Why do YOU read?

For reading today Miss Tupou had written done a question on the whiteboard. Our question was "Why do we read?". Room 11 then all gave in there ideas on why we read and wrote them all on the board. Albert Wendt

Albert Wendt is a well known poet and writer. For writing each group had created a poster about there author that there group was named after. My group was name after Albert Wendt. We then had to write down 8-10 interesting facts about them. Here is my poster about Albert Wendt.

Maui and the Sun #2

We also used the story Maui and the Sun for our writing task. We had to use the 5 W's and H to create 6 paragraphs that described the different parts of the story. Here is my story

For reading today we were assigned to watch a video about the Maori myth - Maui and the Sun. We then had to find as much words as we could that we weren't quite sure of and give the meaning. I had a couple of Maori words included in my list. Afterwards we used only 17 words to paraphrase the story. Here is my reading work.

Dogo News

Today we got independent work. For reading we were assigned to read an article on Dogo News and fill in the task that was given. Here is my worksheet. Stay tuned for more of my work.

Dogo News - Toggle

For our Dogo News Activity we had to create a toggle about it.  My toggle is shaped as a house because that is the logo of the Dogo News website. Here is my FANTASTIC toggle artwork.

Today for reading we went on Dogo News. We had to write the meanings of the blue words that where highlighted. We then had to make a toggle about it. Here is my toggle shaped as a winky face with the words that were highlighted.

Today for reading we were also assigned to go onto Dogo News and choose an article. We then had to fill in a Google Drawing that was made by our teacher. Take a look at the google drawing. Enjoy!

Before Sunrise

For reading today we were assigned to watch a video and work on the following tasks. Our video was about shadows that come alive in the night. I had a lot of fun doing this task but it was a bit tricky trying to think of different similes and metaphors. Here is the link to the video and images of my work!

Wonder Novel Study 1

For reading we are reading the book Wonder. After reading several pages of the book we have a activities to do. Here is the first slideshow of activities that we were given. I will be posting the second slide as well.

Character Profiles - Holes

Last term Room 11 had read a book name Holes and watched the movie on the last day of the term. We had created character profiles. A character profile is when we choose one of the character from the book and include facts and pictures of that person. Miss Tupou created a presentation with all our character profiles in it. We had presented this presentation at our assembly. Take a look at the amazing presentation.

Wonder

This term Room 11 and Room 12 are reading a book named Wonder by R.J Palacio. It is a very interesting book and I can't wait to read more of it. After reading 2 or 3 parts of the book we are assigned to do activities that are given. Once we have finished reading the book we might go and watch the movie based on the book that is coming out in October. Last term we had read the book Holes my Louis Sachar and we watched the movie in class on the last day of Term 2. I can't wait to finish the book!
