My Waka

In class we creating small waka's. What is a waka you ask. Well, a small boat or canoe but NO - it wasn't a real waka. It was a paper one that we folded to be 3D. We first added some colour and then cut it out. Afterwards we glued the sides and it turned into a beautiful waka that is now hanging on the wall. Here is my waka that I created!

All About Me Box

In class we created amazing All About. What is an All About Me box you say! Well, There are 4 flaps. On each side we included our values, goals culture and family. What I liked about this project was that we got to be very creative by including glitter, stickers, envelopes, colour, images and as many things as we wanted. I had tones of fun and I am very proud of my end result! Here is my All About Me Box!

All About Me 2018!

Talofa Lava! My name is Amy and I am a proud Samoan! I am a Year 8 student attending Glen Taylor School and also the Head Girl of Glen Taylor School for 2018! This year I am in Room 11! My teacher is Miss TUpou. Some of my favourite hobbies would be reading, cleaning, singing, listening to music, drawing and learning new things!
At times I like to be active and work with my peers in class or I'll just want to chill and work independently.

My favourite subject is reading because it is a great activity I like doing when being independent and it helps me stay focused and relaxed. I have definitely learnt a lot from reading and can't wait to learn even more. Maths is my weakest subject which is why I would really like to aim higher in maths and maybe even get an award at end of the year!

My goals for this year are to succeed more in learning and extra-curricular activities, help out Glen Taylor School as a senior of the school and head girl, show our school values F.I.R.E in everything that I do and leave primary as a well achieved student, learner, leader and friend!

I can't wait to share more of my excellent work on this blog throughout the rest of the year.

One of our writing lessons was to write a poem based on the poem  "That was Summer" by Marci Ridlon. The poem was about using your senses to write about moments that had happened in your Summer. I really enjoyed this task and I think I came out with an amazing poem. Hopefully you do as well. here is my poem about Summer.

Student Leaders Assembly

Today was the first ever assembly of 2018. Every term the student leaders will be hosting the first assemblies. Hopefully during our next assembly their will be more leaders as we still have the house captains to be announced. Us leaders had to introduce our self and tell the school a little bit abut ourselves. It was very nerve racking as it was our first time doing an assembly as a student leadership team. Anyways, here are some photos!

My Pepeha

Today Miss Tupou assigned us to do a pepeha. A pepeha is a way to introduce our self except in Maori. We included our name, family, mountain and lots more. Here is my pepeha of 2018! Enjoy!
