Technology - Cooking

Today my technology class was cooking. We had buddies and made OREO MILKSHAKES. They were delicious! My buddies were Nia and Hela. We had so much fun and I can't wait for the next session where we are going to make Spaghetti Pies! There were no photos taken but here is a photo of what our milkshakes looked like!

Yr 8's Experience Day

Today the Yr 8's of Glen Taylor went to Tamaki College to experience a day in the life of High School. It's good for them to know what high school is like because it is completely different to primary and there homework will start to create massive piles in there rooms! Good Luck to all of them next year.

GTS is on FIRE!

In Glen Taylor School our values are Fun, Integrity, Respect and Excellence. They are an acronym for Fire. Glen Taylor School is having a competition on which student can create the best Fire Logo for the school. We were also told to write a short paragraph on what we think fire looks like at GTS. My fire logo is on paper but down below you can find my explanation on what I think FIRE looks like.


Polygons

For maths last term we were focusing on Geometry and for one of our sessions we learnt about polygons. A polygon is a 2D shape. Take a look at one of the worksheets that we were given to complete for our task.

Whiz Kids

This year Glen Taylor School had joined a Whiz Kids Programme where the students learn about science and do different fun experiments. The first session was yesterday but sadly I am not in the group but I do know that it is very FUN! Take a look at some photos that were taken.

Technology - Graphics

For our second class in Technology we have been doing Graphics. We had a lot of fun and we can't wait for our next class which is COOKING. Take a look at some photos that were taken during graphics. 

Nelson Mandela

For homework this week we were given a famous person and we were assigned to answer the questions that were given. We then had to write a few facts about that person. We were given Nelson Mandela. I had created a poster for this activity! Take a look at it!

Quick Write #5

If yous scroll downwards you will find one of my quick writes. If you keep on going down you will find more of my quick writes. A quick write is when Miss Tupou puts up a photo on the T.V and we write 4-6 sentences about that photo. We usually do this in the mornings. Take a look at one of the quick writes that I had done.

Character Profiles - Holes

Last term Room 11 had read a book name Holes and watched the movie on the last day of the term. We had created character profiles. A character profile is when we choose one of the character from the book and include facts and pictures of that person. Miss Tupou created a presentation with all our character profiles in it. We had presented this presentation at our assembly. Take a look at the amazing presentation.



Orienteering

Today Rom 11 had Orienteering. Orienteering is a sport where you walk around with a map looking for controls. Orienteering is our new Kiwi Sport for this term. It is very fun and Room 11 enjoy it but they don't enjoy getting there feet dirty in the mud. Take a look at some photos that were taken.

Floods

For writing we focused on writing an explanation. Our task was to create a planning on floods and then start writing our explanation. When creating our planning on Google Drawing we were only allowed to use the shapes that were provided. I managed to accomplish this and if you will like to see it then take a look below. You will also find my explanation on "How a flood is formed".

BNZ Closed for Good

Today BNZ came to our school to teach us about banking and how it works. We had learned lots of different things and we had so much fun. We also got into groups and played a board game. Take a look at some photos that were taken.


The Bid Idea Show

Today the school had gathered in the hall to watch an amazing show called The Big Idea. It was a musical that was performed by 2 different people. They did a wonderful job and all the students and teachers had bright shining smiles on there face! Take a look at some photos.

Homework W5 T3

For homework this week one of our tasks was to give the meaning of the proverb - "The pen is mightier than the sword". I had decided to create a poster about the proverb. Take a look at it!

Kawa of Care

Today in the morning Room 11 and Room 12 had got together. We all went through the Kawa of Care rules and expectations. We then got into buddies and our tasks was to fill in a sheet about what we think Kawa of Care is. We then had to create a google drawing or presentation on the four aspects of Kawa of Care. My buddy was Cherish. We had done an amazing job together and we successfully finished both our tasks. Take a look at our presentation on the four aspects of Kawa of Care!


Tornadoes

For inquiry we are focusing on "Changing Landscapes". Most of the changing landscapes occur because of natural disasters. I had created a brainstorm on a tornado. It includes what a tornado is and some facts. Take a look at it....

For writing today we had planned out an explanation on "How a hurricane is formed". After doing that we had written an explanation. All our information was given to us from a video on Hurricanes. Take a look at my planning and explanation on how a hurricane is formed.

Wonder

This term Room 11 and Room 12 are reading a book named Wonder by R.J Palacio. It is a very interesting book and I can't wait to read more of it. After reading 2 or 3 parts of the book we are assigned to do activities that are given. Once we have finished reading the book we might go and watch the movie based on the book that is coming out in October. Last term we had read the book Holes my Louis Sachar and we watched the movie in class on the last day of Term 2. I can't wait to finish the book!

Term 3 Powhiri

Today Glen Taylor School had there very own powhiri with the help of lots of kind people. If you don't know what a powhiri is then I'll tell you what it is. A powhiri is a Maori Welcoming. We had welcomed on the new students, parents and staff to Glen Taylor School. Our very own kapa haka group had performed and also our Pacifika Pearls. The kapa haka group had also got to put their new Kapa Haka clothes in action. That is also why Fair Go had came to video their performances. Anyways, why don't you take a look at the photos that were taken on that day!

Blessing of the Kapa Haka uniforms!

Today we had Papa Big and the Ruapotaka Marae come into our school and help bless our new Kapa Haka uniforms that were given to us by kind people after the Fair go show. Our very own Kapa Haka group had also performed some songs for us and it was a very great experience for me as it was the first blessing I have ever been to!
